Celebrating recognition of a WU Alum.

On June 1, 2024, Rev. Kenneth B. Bibb was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree by the Zion Hill Baptist Theological Institute and Seminary, Dayton Ohio. Rev. Bibb was born in Birmingham, Alabama. He received his formal education in Alabama and accepted Christ at an early age as a member of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. He is a graduate of Wilberforce University receiving a BS degree in accounting and has done graduate work at Xavier University. He also completed courses at OPM’s Federal Executive Institute and has taken additional courses of study through the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education, the Hampton University Ministers Conference, the Moody Bible Institute and Southeastern Bible College. Rev. Bibb recently completed his 28th year as Pastor of the Second Trinity Baptist Church in the Walnut Hills community of Cincinnati Ohio. He has led his congregation to be actively engaged in outreach activities with several community organizations including Bethany House Services, Queen City Kitchen, Caracole, Erica J. Holloman Foundation, and it partners with the City Gospel Mission to provide meals to those who are shelter residents. Prior to his tenure at Second Trinity, he served as the Youth Pastor at Southern Baptist Church where he was licensed and ordained under the pastorate of the late Rev. James E. Milton. He also served as an instructor with the church’s Department of Christian Education. Bibb retired in 2017. In addition to his management duties, he was also a member of the Leadership Institute Faculty where he taught classes for new managers. Immediately after graduation from WU, Rev. Bibb transitioned that leadership and service that had begun while a student on campus and became active in WUAA. He attended his first Alumni Conference in the fall of 1974 which was actually a “mini conference” due to the April tornado. He served several terms as president of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter and as the chapter treasurer. Rev. Bibb was the chapter president during both of the previous times the Cincinnati Chapter hosted the National Conference. He has also been active in the local recruiting efforts. In March 2023, Rev. Bibb completed one of several terms he held on the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors. In March 2024 he completed his ninth year as Chair of the Association’s Nominating/Election Committee. Previously, he has also served as Chairman of the Association’s Audit Committee. He is a member of the Scholarship Committee, active in the local recruiting efforts, and is one of the founding members of the Association’s Platinum Life Members. During the Association’s 2023 Annual Convention, Rev. Bibb was the recipient of the “Distinguished Service Award”. For Rev. Bibb, serving and giving back to Wilberforce University has been paramount for him and he has done so consistently at the President’s Club and the Vivian Lewis Society levels.

Rev. Bibb is actively involved in the District and State Baptist Associations. He currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer of the Ohio Baptist General Convention, and as the Assistant Treasurer of the Western Union Baptist District Association. Rev. He was also named the 2019 Ohio Sigma Man of the Year. For the past several years, Rev. Bibb has been the Legacy Speaker at the Fraternity’s Annual Founder’s Day Celebration. Rev. Bibb is actively involved in other areas of the community including speaking to young male students in inner city elementary schools, volunteering with United Way’s and AARP’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program and he tutors math at Cincinnati’s Shroder High School. Rev. Bibb has been married to Lillie Delores for 43 years, and they are proud parents and even prouder grandparents.
